The human foot is considered as one of the best-engineered parts of the body. Each foot has 33 joints, eight arches, 26 bones, more than 100 muscles, over 100 ligaments, and tendons that all work together to distribute body weight and allow movement. Keep a healthy lifestyle and follow a healthy diet, keep your blood sugar close to normal, check your feet for cuts, sores, red spots, swellings, and cuts that do not heal, wash your feet with warm water daily, wear socks at all times, protect your bare feet from extreme temperatures such as extremes of heat and cold, keep your blood circulating to your feet, being active, exercise regularly, and communicate with your doctor. You should not wear shoes that has pointed or open toes, such as flip-flops, sandals or high heel shoes. Those living in a city simply have to walk considerable distances as part of normal daily routine, commuting, working, leisure etc. After soaking the feet for 2 to 3 days, attempt to gently lift the ingrown toenail out of the skin. If the toenail won't budge, or the situation is not improving, see a podiatrist who can take care of the toenail for you. In planning their trips, vacationers start thinking about their new outfits and ways to enjoy the outdoors. Often times, this means fashionable but flimsy unsupportive footwear. Even if it is cute, it may not be adequate to support your feet when walking long distances. Many people don't seem to realize this. If you think this is not serious, think about how many employees had to be absent from work because of their foot problem or, worse, a severe injury. If you feel a sudden shooting, burning, stabbing pain in this region of your forefoot, remove your shoes immediately and massage your foot. Relieving your foot of shoe compression often brings quick relief. If at all possible, give your feet some ice treatment as soon as the pain begins by setting your foot on a bag of ice for five to ten minute, then off for a further five to ten minutes.
